Bart Heynen, a Belgian portrait photograher, recently moved with his family to New York City. He received a Master of Arts degree at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and attended the International Center of Photography in New York. Up until now, he has been working in Belgium and the Netherlands and focused mainly on editorial work for De Standaard, De Morgen, De Tijd, Weekend Knack, Psychologies, Elle, Het Nieuwsblad, De Volkskrant, and Vrij Nederland. Waterlanders and Slapers are the titles of his two books which are published by Lido and Luster. In both books Bart captures intimate and vulnerable moments of well known people from Belgium and The Netherlands. He is currently working on a third book about gay fathers and their children living in New York City.
